Democrats and other NeverTrumpers are trying their best to keep Donald Trump off the Republican primary ballot in several states. Their best is not good enough, according to the Supreme Court.
If you have not done so, go and read Ed’s write-up on the Court’s decision.
The left is in meltdown mode. Everyone else is feeling validated for understanding that every state must follow the Constitution.
The Supremes ruled unanimously that Donald Trump may not be taken off the Colorado primary ballot. This is a timely decision given that Colorado is one of the states that votes on Super Tuesday, which is tomorrow. The Court needed to rule unanimously to send a clear message. Democrats cannot be allowed to put their hatred of Donald Trump over the Constitution.
One Republican who was in Trump’s administration responded that Democrats are fascists. He’s not wrong.
Unanimous decision that Democrats cannot continue their fascism. https://t.co/ODYiWMe5CV

Another conservative said that this is a total humiliation for those painting Trump as an insurrectionist.
A complete humiliation for the Insurrection Act dipshits and everybody – cynic and moron alike – who gave this obviously ludicrous theory any credence. Y’all should go hide in a hole.

He’s not wrong, either. Trump gave a speech to his supporters that day but he has not been charged with participating in the riot on January 6, 2021, or convicted of being an insurrectionist. He returned to the White House after the speech and watched what happened on television. If Democrats thought they could make the case that Trump is an insurrectionist, they would have already done that. There has been no hesitancy to charge the former president with all sorts of things. Lawfare is the name of the game.
Democrats like to pretend that Trump is an insurrectionist anyway. CNN had one of their supersized panels on to perform a group meltdown. Maybe Congress could jump in and pass a bill, or something.

But then there is gerrymandering and abiding by the Constitution, you know. CNN has a sad.
Insurrection sympathizer Clarence Thomas ruled that insurrectionist Donald Trump can remain on the ballot in 2024. That should be the headline.
— Harry Sisson (@harryjsisson) March 4, 2024
When did Justice Thomas become an insurrection sympathizer? The ruling was unanimous. Even Sotomayer, Kagen, and Brown denied Colorado their political stunt.
MSNBC will be on fire, I do not doubt that. Last week, Rachel Maddow worked herself up into a tizzy as she promoted her conspiracy theory that if Trump is elected in November, he will remain in office for life.
Keith Olbermann says it’s time to dissolve the Court.
The Supreme Court has betrayed democracy. Its members including Jackson, Kagan and Sotomayor have proved themselves inept at reading comprehension. And collectively the “court” has shown itself to be corrupt and illegitimate.
It must be dissolved.

Self-awareness is hard. He pinned that beauty at the top of his X timeline.

It’s the Supreme Court that is interfering in the election, you see, not the hyper-partisan Democrats in certain states. How much more interference can there be than to try to get the opposition party’s candidate kicked off the ballot?

Leftists try to soothe their fellow travelers that SCOTUS didn’t “clear him of insurrection.”
It’s a win for Trump. At the same time, remember that the Supreme Court’s decision today did not do what Donald Trump had asked: clear him of insurrection. The Colorado court found that he so was, and Trump had an entire section of his SCOTUS brief arguing he was peaceful on 1/6.… https://t.co/8EyBI1IKvc
— Neal Katyal (@neal_katyal) March 4, 2024
There is no “clearing” necessary. Again, Trump has not been charged and therefore not convicted of insurrection. Shouldn’t these “experts” know this?
The people who are saving democracy are the ones who are trying to get a candidate off the ballot. He’s a former president. Trump makes them lose their minds. Imagine if red states did the same. How about Texas taking Biden off the ballot for dereliction of duty – he has deliberately failed to secure the southern border? Would that be ok with the left?
More sad trombone.
Just to emphasize:
The narrowest ruling would’ve been that *states* can’t disqualify *presidential candidates* under Section 3.
The actual holding is that the *only* way to disqualify *any* candidate for federal office is through a statute enacted by Congress.
Big distinction. https://t.co/E5tojWU4V4

The left wants to destroy the credibility of the Supreme Court. It wants to pack the Court with a permanent majority of leftists. It wants to destroy the nine people who are saving democracy.
The number of commentators, even those that
are putatively legal experts, that either got this SCOTUS decision wrong or knew they were lying is a national embarrassment. And the fact this was 9-0 was a kick in the teeth to the pack-the-court, delegitimize SCOTUS crowd.
— Mark Hemingway (@Heminator) March 4, 2024
The left does not want democracy in our constitutional republic. It wants tyranny.
The hardest hit is the Colorado Secretary of State.
I am disappointed in the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision stripping states of the authority to enforce Section 3 of the 14th Amendment for federal candidates. Colorado should be able to bar oath-breaking insurrections from our ballot.

Poor dear. The comments on her post are delicious. Insurrection is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.
