In case you didn’t get enough lumps of coal (or some carbon-free alternative) in your Christmas stocking, here’s a late entry for you. As John discussed yesterday, the US delegation to Mexico went to beg for help from President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador with the Biden border crisis this week. He predicted that whatever help the Biden administration winds up getting will be “somewhere between nothing and not much.” That clearly seems to be panning out, but it’s probably not because AMLO is fighting us or unwilling to cooperate. What was the delegation actually negotiating with Mexico? Ostensibly they were supposed to be asking for our southern neighbor’s help in preventing massive armies of illegal migrants from reaching our border in the first place. There may have been some discussions along those lines, but according to some officials familiar with the negotiations, they were also talking about “normalizing Hispanic illegal aliens already in the United States. That would include the eight to ten million already allowed in since Joe Biden took office. (Fox News)
A meeting this week between top U.S. and Mexican officials to discuss the ongoing migrant crisis included talks about “regularizing” illegal immigrants living in the U.S., officials said Thursday — quickly sparking a furious reaction from House Republicans, who called it “unconscionable.”
Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas were among the officials in the U.S. delegation to Mexico City and met with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Wednesday. The meeting came amid a historic crisis at the border, with December on track to shatter records for migrant encounters.
In the joint statement, the countries affirmed their commitments to “orderly, humane and regular migration” and stressed their efforts to tackle “root causes” of migration, disrupt human smuggling and promote private investment while also investing in “ambitious development programs” in the region.
The publicly announced talking points were more of the same nonsense we’ve heard from the Biden administration on a regular basis. They want to tackle the “root causes” of migration. That’s what our supposed border czar has allegedly been doing for two years with absolutely nothing to show for it. Besides, we already know the root cause of the massive increase in illegal migration we’ve seen for the past three years. The cause is Joe Biden and the welcome mat he laid out for the entire world.
They also claim to have discussed ways to “disrupt human smuggling” across the border. Sadly, lip service isn’t going to do anything about that problem. It’s estimated that the cartels smuggled 1.3 million people across the border just in 2022, earning roughly $12 billion for their efforts. Many of those were young women and underage girls who were then sold into prostitution or sex slavery. Others engaged in criminal activity to gain money to pay off their debts to the cartels.
But the most horrible parts of the discussions were centered on the status of the millions of illegals already in the United States. Instead of talking about detentions and deportation, they were debating the best way to “normalize” their presence in the United States. You already know what that means. They’re talking about permanent residency and eventually citizenship. And they’re not just talking about the Obama-ere “dreamers. They mean all of them. It’s what the Democrats have wanted from the beginning and it’s the reason that Biden opened the border in the first place.
As John correctly pointed out, we are currently “importing” enough people to populate a moderately large city on a monthly basis. All of those people have to be fed, clothed, and housed. All of the children will need to be shoehorned into our public schools that were already floundering before this human wave began breaking on our borders. The estimated costs are staggering and they will be shouldered by American taxpayers who are already struggling under the disastrous effects of “Bidenomics.” And now, if Biden and the Democrats have their way, they want to make the situation permanent. This simply cannot be allowed. We have to find these people, round them up, and send them home. Then we can return to our normal system of legal immigration for those who wish to follow our laws, contribute to our economy, and blend into American society. This madness must end because it has long since passed the point of being a significant crisis.
