Republican Lawmakers Call For 25th Amendment Against Biden – HotAir

You knew it was coming. The 25th Amendment exists for a reason. It’s time to dust it off and use it.

The times we find ourselves in are not the same as when hyper-partisan Democrats bloviated about the need to use the 25th Amendment against former President Trump. Trump’s presidency was all about Democrats trying to get him removed from office. There were not one but two impeachments. Desperate Democrats decided to try to pressure the Trump cabinet into using the 25th Amendment. There were cable news panels of talking heads who analyzed Trump, though they had never spoken with him and offered professional opinions. It was a ridiculous time.

This is not a ridiculous time. This is a very dangerous time. The report released Thursday by Special Counsel Hur confirmed what we knew – Joe Biden does not have the mental acuity to do his job.

Democrats are most concerned about retaining power, not the mental state of the president. They are circling the wagons and defending Biden.

The members of the media who take their talking points from the DNC are very indignant that the truth is being said out loud.

Poor Morning Joe. Remember when he was an elected Republican? Then he went to the dark side and now he makes a lot of money trashing Republicans. He and his wife and co-anchor, Mika, were socially friendly with Trump before he ran for president. Then Trump broke them, as he did with other Democrats in the media. Now the two can’t do a show without making every topic about Trump.

Some Republicans are coming forward and saying that it is time to at least consider encouraging the Biden cabinet to use the 25th Amendment. Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) is calling for Biden to either be charged with mishandling classified documents or for the 25th Amendment to be invoked.

Tenney said it is time to explore the use of the 25th Amendment. She sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland that expressed her concern over the Hur report.

“After concluding that President Biden knowingly and willfully removed, mishandled, and disclosed classified documents repeatedly over a period of decades, Mr. Hur nevertheless recommended that charges not be brought against him,” Tenney wrote. “Special Counsel’s reasoning was alarming.”

Tenney added: “He recited numerous instances in which President Biden exhibited dramatically compromised mental faculties and concluded that a jury would be likely to perceive President Biden as a sympathetic and forgetful old man.”

Tenney said she “need not tell you that selective prosecution is morally, ethically, and legally prohibited.”

“We don’t prosecute or decline to prosecute people based on their personalities, or on the public’s anticipated perception of them,” Tenney wrote. “If Special Counsel finds that the evidence forms a reasonable basis to bring charges, he must do so.”

She pointed out that ethically, charges can’t be ruled out against Biden because of loss of memory while DOJ is going after Trump for mishandling classified documents, too. As she said, there is no middle ground. Charge him or remove him from office.

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) sounded a call for the 25th Amendment, too. It is reported that he was the first to do so.

‘That does not describe someone who should be the Commander in Chief of our armed forces and the defender of American freedoms,’ Scott wrote on X in reaction to the report. ‘It’s time for his cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment.’

And so on. The drumbeat from Republicans will continue to get louder as Democrats deny the findings of the Hur report.

This isn’t political. This is a national crisis. It is not outlandish to ask the Biden cabinet to at least consider invoking the 25th Amendment. They won’t because they put power over national security.

For those Democrats looking for an off-ramp to Biden’s re-election campaign, they have one now. I don’t see him being the 2024 presidential candidate after this has all come out. He certainly can not be given a second term in office.
