Remember When Celebrities Loved Haiti to "Own" Donald Trump – HotAir

Haiti has been in the news again, and as usual it is for all the wrong reasons. 

Ever since the Haitian revolution in 1791 the country has been a violent hellhole, and to be frank it was a violent hellhole while it was a French colony before that. There has never been a time in which Haiti has not ranked as one of the worst places on earth to live. 

Except, for a brief moment, under Donald Trump. When Trump was president he called Haiti a “s**thole country” and the entire Western cultural elite declared Haiti to be a modern paradise. 

This is not an exaggeration. The rehabilitation of Haiti as a lovely spot to live and visit was a thing in 2018, and now is a good time to remind everybody just how shockingly dishonest our elite is. This effort had nothing to do with ignorance and nothing to do with doing good things. It was 100% pure Grade-A gaslighting BS because our Elite would rather do or say anything to harm Donald Trump than admit that he was right about something. 

So let’s take a trip down memory lane for a bit, as Matt Walsh did in the first 15 minutes of his show yesterday. 

Conan O’Brien actually traveled to Haiti to prove that it was a tropical paradise, staying at a (well guarded) resort, visiting their culinary school (I wonder if he tried the divine Leg of Human with mint jelly), and even created a line of T-shirts and hats exclaiming that “Haiti is Great Already.”

Conan recruited other celebrities to talk up Haiti, and this of course was part of a larger effort to tar Trump with the brush of racism. 

Haiti has for decades been something of a hobby for the Left. The Clintons have spent a lot of time and collected a lot of money not helping Haitians, as has the United Nations. The Clinton Foundation collected billions to help Haitians, and there was no perceptible change in the country but a big one for the Clintons. 

The United Nations spent years “helping” Haitians, literally spreading disease there and running a child sexual abuse gang. 

Yes, that’s right. The UN peacekeeping force ran a pedophile ring in the most miserable place on earth. 

A child sexual abuse scandal in Haiti involving the Sri Lankan UN peacekeepers emerged in 2007 following an investigation by the UN’s Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS). At least 134 Sri Lankan soldiers serving with the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti were accused of sexually abusing nine children from 2004 to 2007.[1][2] In 2016, the Sri Lankan government decided to make a one-time ex-gratia payment to a victim and child born as a result of sexual exploitation and abuse, which was praised by the UN.[3] However, none of the accused have been punished by the Sri Lankan government.[4]

Haiti was supposed to be the shining example of what the transnational elite could do if you allowed them to spend unlimited amounts of money and just let them do what they know they can do. 

Now it is run by a criminal gang leader nicknamed “Barbecue” because he likes to set his enemies on fire after he chops them up. 

Haiti is literally Clintonville–Clinton was the face of Haitian reconstruction, literally. 

Haiti has been a symbol of the bright future that has been promised by the transnational elite, with the United Nations and the Clintons leading the charge to show how much better they can make the world if we only let them. 

So bright, in fact, that “Haiti is Great Already,” right?

Now Haiti is run by an alleged cannibal called “Barbecue.” I wonder if he was there when Conan visited here:
