March is National Women’s History Month. To celebrate, Disney Parks has renamed its popular ice cream treat to honor Minnie Mouse.
Innocent enough, right? Well, Disney must have thought so but wokeism never fails to ruin things for everyone. Disney Parks renamed its Mickey’s Kitchen Sink Sundaes to Minnie’s Kitchen Sink Sundaes and woke women lost their minds.
Just as the leftists went nuts when Senator Katie Britt delivered the Republican response to the State of the Union address from her kitchen in Alabama, trying to create the optics of an everywoman, the left wants to let it be known that this move by Disney is sexist. By definition, a kitchen sink is in a kitchen and any references to women and kitchens is wrong.
This is 2024, not 1950, and most people have moved on from believing that women should stay home instead of making a second income for their families. Most families need two incomes because one income doesn’t always support a family, especially in the days of Bidenomics. The same has been true for years, though. Some women, including me, were lucky enough to be stay-at-home moms but that arrangement comes with financial sacrifices. When my Millennial son was growing up, working from home was not an option. These days, women are afforded most of the same opportunities afforded to men.
The kitchen as a sexist cudgel is outdated. Move on. Disney Parks has honored Minnie Mouse in past years in this way. Disney has also concocted ice cream treats in honor of Minnie for other occasions. The strident left decided to go crazy this year.
Nonetheless, the wackos persist.
The massive dessert made of multiple ice cream flavors and a boatload of toppings will be served throughout the month of March in a bowl that looks like Minnie’s pants.
Well, proving once again that no lovely gesture will ever be perceived as such, nor be received with grace and charity by the progressive woke crowd, the feminist hoards have descended on Disney for degrading women everywhere by associating them with a kitchen sink.
One article published by USA Today addressed Disney’s decision.
“While I don’t think Disney did this intentionally, the perception is associating a kitchen sink with a month celebrating women, a group of people who have historically been told that their only place is in the kitchen,” said Dr. Betsy Grunch, a popular neurosurgeon who has nearly 2 million followers on TikTok. She posted a video of a sign advertising the product while at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.
“Of course, the sink is playing off the ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ phrase,” Grunch said, “but the optics aren’t great, and I believe the creative minds at Disney could have come up with better names to celebrate and uplift women.”
“Y’all did us dirty on this one,” Grunch said in her video.
One commenter said, “My jaw hit the floor.” The sundae costs $24.99. That is the part that made my jaw drop. The ice cream scoops and toppings are placed inside a sink shaped like Minnie Mouse’s dress with a faucet and two handles shaped like her gloved hands. Maybe the special bowl jacks up the price.
To put the cherry on top of this sundae, the article quoted ‘experts’ with Planned Parenthood.
Gender norms prevent people from fully expressing themselves and their emotions, leading women, for example, to fear independence and men to bottle up strong emotions to avoid appearing “weak,” experts with Planned Parenthood say. Meanwhile, “hyperfeminine folks are more likely to endure physical and emotional abuse from their partners [and] hypermasculine folks are more likely to be physically and emotionally abusive to their partners.”
Of course.
The Minnie Kitchen Sink bowls have been used in other celebrations.
You can find kitchen sink sundaes, a strawberry waffle sundae, and Minnie Mouse dome cake in Disney World, and a Polka Dot Valentine Mickey-shaped Balloon Bucket in Disneyland! But you know what our hearts were after, the Minnie Kitchen Sink Sundae at Hollywood Scoops in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
We scooted over to Hollywood Scoops first thing in the morning where we picked up our very own Minnie Kitchen Sink Sundae. (Turns out we were the third ones to ever order the treat!) The Minnie Mouse polka dot kitchen sink bowl isn’t new to Disney World (but they brought it back for the special occasion), but the ice cream sundae in it is.
The sundae has strawberry ice cream topped with red vanilla whipped cream, chocolate syrup, white “polka dot” sprinkles, cookie ears, and a chocolate bow. You can eat it all up for $24.99!
In 2024 women should not be triggered when a reference to a kitchen sink, or a kitchen in general, is mentioned when celebrating women. It’s silly. Leftists ruin everything.
