TUCKER Carlson is on form in his latest X platform-aired interview with Alex Jones, a man Wikipedia describes as an ‘American far-right, alt-right radio show host and prominent conspiracy theorist’ but who Carlson has come to the conclusion is a prophet for our times. There’s a good element of clickbait but Tucker is always a good watch.
He opens by explaining that the US ruling class is defined not by its love or hopes but by its hatreds – of the deplorables, of America’s entire blue-collar class, and of no one more than Alex Jones. Personally I say it is defined by a more all-encompassing hatred of another man – the much bigger and more significant figure of the person of Donald Trump. But that’s just me and I wasn’t about to interview Jones! However it’s an effective intro to a figure that Carlson describes as deplatformed before it was a common term. What did he do wrong, he asks? Carlson lists some high order contemporary real crimes which he clearly didn’t do. What Alex Jones did wrong was that he had opinions that ‘deeply rattled’ the people who run America.

Carlson helpfully gives some time stamps if your system is up to fast-forwarding. (Mine just buffers.) Needless to say the Independent did not take kindly to it. An article by Martha McHardy hooks on to Jones’s latest prediction ‘headline’ from it that soon he will be able to disappear ‘like Obi-Wan Kenobi’ once enough other right-wing media figures like Mr Carlson ‘who actually know what’s going on’ grow in influence and when the paradigm finally shatters. She reminds us too that Mr Jones filed for bankruptcy last December after a judge ordered him to pay $1.5billion to the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting, which he claimed never happened.
