Every time I see the CNN slogan, “Facts First,” I chuckle. The reason is because I think the anchors of its shows live in a different world than most Americans. My opinion was validated during a segment on CNN’s morning show today.
Phil Mattingly and Erica Hill, hosts of CNN This Morning spoke with John Miller, the cable network’s chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst on Friday’s show. The news story that several of the illegal aliens roaming the streets of New York City attacked police officers was discussed. That story is gut-wrenching and to add insult to injury, the men were released without bail, on their own recognizance. That’s right. In very blue New York City, illegal aliens who attack a police officer and his partner are taken into custody and then released. That’s that.
Guess what? Four of the men have left New York and took a bus headed for Calexico through Saint Louis. Who in the world is surprised by this development?
Mattingly asked Miller what his sources were telling him about the story. Miller reminded the viewers that the men were released on their own recognizance. Then he went on to explain that they got bus tickets with the help of Catholic Charities, under fake names. Since they were released on their own recognizance, the police can’t arrest them in St. Louis for trying to flee the country.
Much to the outrage of the police unions and many of the police officers since it was bailable offense. And obviously as people who got here a month ago without family, they have no roots in the community. But that was the decision. The judge didn’t hold them on bail. The DA didn’t ask for bail. So yesterday we learned that they went to a Catholic charity that helps migrants. They got four bus tickets under false names and got on a bus headed for Calexico through Saint Louis.
Now, normally, we probably wouldn’t even be talking about this because the U.S. marshals and detectives would be waiting for them in Saint Louis, but they were released on their own recognizance, which means police have nothing to arrest them on, on the assumption, which they have to operate on that. They’ll be back for their March 13th court date. The chances of that happening when four people get on a bus with false names and head for the city, that it literally, you can cross the street into the Mexican border, is probably unlikely. So that’s stirred a lot of controversy about the criminal justice reform and the assault on the police officers.
Yeah, no kidding. Americans don’t like seeing police officers violently attacked, especially by those who are in our country illegally.
Then Erica Hill ran video of New York Governor Kathy Hochul saying, “Get them all and send them back. You don’t touch our police officers. You don’t talk to anybody.” Hill noted that Democrats from Biden on down are suddenly speaking differently about illegal aliens than they were just weeks ago. While claiming that the vast majority of illegal aliens just want to get jobs and make decent lives for themselves, Miller said that there is a criminal element among them.
I mean, these are people who came in waves. You know, 170,000, probably to New York City. But within that group, this hard working, you know, throngs of people in search of hope and a better life. There is this 1%, you know, criminal element that looks at a different opportunity here. These individuals I went over their rap sheets yesterday. Multiple charges. Grand larceny, robbery, attempted robbery, grand larceny, grand larceny. This particular crew operated on mopeds and scooters. They were doing organized retail theft. They were doing snatches on the street. iPhones, iPads, clothing, so on and so forth.
One of them that they are still seeking has ten charges on one day because he’s part of a pattern that’s been going on, and I’m looking at the dates that their arrest started, which is probably close to when they got here. They’ve only been here a couple of months. So what the detectives are telling me is they have crews here that operate in New York do all their stealing, then go to Florida to spend the money and then come back. And I’m like, well, why don’t they just stay and steal in Florida? And they said, ‘Because there you go to jail.’
What happened next was the kicker. Erica Hill was left speechless. There was a long, awkward pause and then she finally said, “Oh, well.” Unbelievable.
Gosh, who knew that if criminals are held accountable, they avoid those places, like the state of Florida? Governor DeSantis often mentions that the crime rate in Florida is at a 50 year low. That isn’t by coincidence. That is because Florida has leaders who don’t tolerate crime. It’s really that simple. Arrest criminals, toss them in jail, and make sure they show up for their court dates. That involves electing people who will follow the laws and prosecute criminals, not allow them back out on the streets to do more harm.
Illegal alien criminals aren’t settling in Florida. They are going to blue sanctuary cities and states. They aren’t stupid. They know where to go to do as they please. They break U.S. law by illegally entering the country in the first place and continue to commit crimes. They have no respect for law enforcement. Unfortunately, there will be more attacks on law enforcement before the southern border is secured. Maybe the sheltered media types will begin to wake up. There are some bad hombres here in Biden’s America. They have to be rounded up and sent home.
