Former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is bashing President Biden in a new ad for the way he has handled the crisis at the southern border, saying the president’s policies have created a “violent threat.”
The 30-second ad, titled “Burning Down,” cites reports that 12,000 migrants cross the border each day, and that Hamas militants might try to cross the border into the U.S. It features clips of migrants entering the country, and a building exploding.
“While the world burns, Joe Biden has created a violent threat in our own backyard,” the ad says. “Biden’s open border has opened the floodgates to record numbers, including terrorists, fentanyl traffickers, and raises the possibility of a Hamas attack.”
Mr. Biden has been under fire for his immigration policies, or lack thereof, with Republicans saying he is leaving the country open to an attack.
The ad highlights Mr. Trump’s promise to secure the border and build a wall.
“President Trump had our borders secured and he’ll do it again by building even more wall and stopping people from terrorist countries from ever entering,” the narrator says.
The promise of building a wall at the southern border has been one that Mr. Trump has touted since 2016. While some of the wall has been built, there is still more ground to cover.
Congress left Washington for the holidays earlier this month without passing Ukraine aid or southern border funding. Republicans argue that there are not enough border security measures in the proposed foreign aid package.
